Michael Courier

Bio:

michael-courier-headshot.jpg

Since 2013, Michael has been a performing arts and event photographer in Chicago. He worked mostly with nonprofit cultural institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Center, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and Porchlight Music Theatre. His work was seen locally and nationally in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.

Due to Covid-19, the pandemic, and the subsequent health and safety guidelines, he has refocused his business around environmental art and advocacy — primarily focusing on Lake Michigan, the Great Lakes region, water issues, and pollution.

"The Great Lakes are a beautiful and vital part of our world, and they play a pivotal role for so many people and creatures. I've been documenting, picking up, and raising awareness about plastic pollution in the lakes and on our local beaches since 2018."
