Molly Maloney is a Cleveland-based artist whose body of work includes paper arts, collage, monoprinting, and found-object assemblage. Before moving from Seattle to CLE in 2020, her art was all about snarky humor. She still loves a witty aside and believes that life is better when it's served up with sauce. But daily walks on a small beach during the pandemic opened up new avenues of creativity and Molly discovered the joyful, contemplative process of making art using the trash and treasure provided by Lake Erie.

"I am lucky to live a few hundred steps from Lake Erie, so I experience her moods and bear witness to how she changes the landscape every single day. Because ours is an urban shoreline, I see the effects our single-use, individual-serving, throwaway culture has on the lake. By including trash alongside natural items and classic beachcombing “treasure” in my art, I aim to create visually interesting compositions that call attention to what ends up in our waterways. "
