HH-Bio-Pic-B.jpeg

Bio:

Helen Hierta is a Great Lakes basin ceramic artist living and working on the shore of Lake Huron in Greenbush, MI. She currently has a one-year solo exhibition of handbuilt totemic sculptures installed at Dow Gardens, titled "Nature, Energy,& Reflection."

The below piece is a co-donation from Higher Art Gallery in Traverse City, MI.

"For me, living on the shore of Lake Huron is a constant meditation on our own interior landscape, our personal inland sea of emotions and understanding. My work is informed by nature's energy -- the color of water that constantly changes, the rough surfaces created by wind and rain, the horizon line of unlimited potential."
